Perfect timing for this movie. I just hope it has the same tone as the original, and isn’t just a nostalgia fest. The original was a bit more than just a silly movie.

I gotta be honest...looks pretty bad. I just watched both old movies and while they aren’t great , they were a product of their time. This feels like “lets do those movies, but with older version of those people.” The valley stoner thing is a bit of a bummer, I was hoping at least one of them has matured a little to be a more rounded human in this incarnation. It’s not that i don’t realize this is just a low bar romp through nostalgia (and can appreciate it on that level) it’ s that it doesn’t even feel that commited by even that standard. It feels even more painfully forced that at least one of these actors is a much better actor now.

As someone who loved the first two back in the day (and can still tolerate them now), I am worried I am going to hate it. Not to the personal insult level like the Poltergeist remake or the cringe of the new Vacation episode, but these seldom go well. Still, I’ll probably at least see it when it is streaming anyway.

Well Carlin is dead so they should have made this when he was alive, that knocks it down for me a bit.
